- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe -
My inspiration for expressing colours happens in many directions.
What I like to present here, are collections from the last two years which still follow me today, that means, I am still working and completing these themes.
These impressions - painted on paper with gouache, inks and soluble coloured crayons - were born in the spring in the vastness of the picturesque landscape of the western Algarve, near Barão São João. The lush green of the fields, the fragrance of wild plants, the silence of the valleys and hills. Cork oaks trees dancing in the wind. Even the singing of the birds can be found in the colour. I consider nature both to blossom and to wither, this eternal transformation also manifests itself when I paint, when I do my walks with the colours.
These postcard-size images are my first experiences with oil paint, started in Salema and deepened in my Atelier.
They are the result of the play and the joy of colours. To follow the movement of colour, to feel the strength and quality that every single colour brings along and makes them sound together.
What does the painting need, what does it want to create, what story do they have to tell? Colours turn into words, colour sounds become stimulating conversations. And the viewer is free to find his own story in it.
These delicate impressions show an artwork inspired by the fine and shimmering quality of the the plant colour. Pieces of silk dyed by hand with plant colours, dried flowers and leaves complement the compositions.
The harmony and beauty emanating from these natural colours appeals to me. It is their lightness and transparency, their fleeting and transient ... they have arisen with the sunlight and give us their radiance and warmth. This naturally creates images of angels and other creatures.
This collection of pictures mostly painted with oil colours represents the power no moment of the confrontation between the sea and the land.
Looking for inspiration brought me often to gorgeous and wild beaches, where the colour of the sky embrace the sea. Where in the contemplation oft the blue colour we slightly forget ourself while we unite us with the rhythm of the sea and the vast horizon. And where the sea brings us to unknown deepness...
Where the solid meets with the flow, the firm with the mellow….Where the rocks seem to be the guardians over the sea...
